The Challenge

To eliminate the manual processes of current gym management portals and evolve the day-to-day communication of the Classical Pilates community

The Outcome

An integrated platform built around the nuanced practice of studios, directors, teachers, and clients in the Classical Pilates community

Our process

Empathize

To gain a deeper connection with our community’s pain points, the team observed the operations of a pilates studio, attended a pilates session, and interviewed key personas found in their community. This helped us find the perfect balance between what our client wants and what the community needs.

User Flows

To gain a deeper connection with our community’s pain points, the team observed the operations of a pilates studio, attended a pilates session, and interviewed key personas found in their community. This helped us find the perfect balance between what our client wants and what the community needs.

Wireframing

At this point, we knew that the platform will require unique interfaces for its three unique user types: the client, the instructor, and the studio managers. Wireframing helped us fine-tune all the interactions and transitions that the platform will have to go through.

Visual Design

The design shows the femininity of the brand symbolizes and the community that it represents. The spacious and lightweight interface is reflective of the flow that is found in the practice of pilates. We chose purple and teal for their calm and positive, yet strong and bold connotations.

Simplifying the conversation

The design shows the femininity of the brand symbolizes and the community that it represents. The spacious and lightweight interface is reflective of the flow that is found in the practice of pilates. We chose purple and teal for their calm and positive, yet strong and bold connotations.

02

Connecting the Community

It's common practice for instructors to offer their services to multiple studios. With the platform that we designed, instructors are not tied down to a single studio. They are allowed to reach their clients and schedule sessions with different studios in mind.

03

Designing in the global context

Pilates has a growing community, so the studio scheduler needed to connect the community on a global level. Syncing all calendars across studio and instructor schedules allowed users to make more informed decisions on the go, wherever they may be.

Prototyping & Testing

New products and platforms sometimes meet resistance from users. We mitigate this risk by conducting user acceptance tests before development begins. By letting members of the community touch base with the product early on, we discover mistakes and gaps in the flow that are easier and cheaper to fix.

Style Guide

We developed their design system and style guide to ensure consistency as the product finishes development. Style guides make designing and developing future features simpler and more efficient.

Website

To effectively market the platform to a wider audience, we needed a functional website that is easy to navigate. It now serves as a newcomer’s first touchpoint in their pilates journey, with a functional directory of all the certified pilates studios in the world.
