Bridging Physical and Digital Interactions for Unilab’s 80th Anniversary Celebration

A company-wide companion app for the year-long celebration through storytelling and exciting activities

The Challenge


As part of a year-long campaign of events and features leading up to Unilab’s 80th anniversary, they wanted an internal companion app to these in-person events — a guide with features to incite anticipation and engage with its thousands of employees. As their new CEO’s initiative of Bayanihan within the company, we needed to bring together a platform that celebrated both the company and the people behind it.  

Our Approach

We took on this project as a joint effort with our sister company Ace Saatchi & Saatchi who defined the anniversary campaign’s content. We make this content more convenient for Unilab employees by utilizing the app as an information dissemination tool for events and announcements.

Sustaining Engagement and Anticipation

As the celebrations spanned over a year, we created features to help sustain excitement among employees raffles, a countdown and a daily unlocking of stories narrating how Unilab has impacted individual employees or certain individuals’  contributions to the company.

Building on Unilab’s campaign for Bayanihan, we gamified a collective volunteer hour bank where employees can volunteer for anniversary events and track their individual hours against the company’s collective count. With the year-long anniversary countdown feature, these bayanihan hours gave users a sense of collective action towards the final celebration.
