An end-to-end design and development process to localize a global telemedicine platform
When CareSpan entered the Philippines from the US, processes within the platform design didn’t resonate with local doctors or patients. As the platform was brought in from the US, extensive research with doctors and patients showed the processes needed an overhaul.
The goal was to redesign the app to feel like it was built specifically for Filipinos—without losing the robust functionality that made it successful overseas.
As one of our biggest projects with end-to-end design and development processes, we began with an immersive research phase. Among many of the methods we used were expert reviews with both physicians and patients, tree testing and a monetization-focused design thinking workshop with CareSpan’s stakeholder.
Insights from our research efforts and a monetization workshop with stakeholders paved the way for an MVP roadmap tailored to both doctor and patient needs within the Philippine setting — and structured to make it an efficiently profitable app.
With two separate doctor and patience-facing flows, we found opportunities for clear navigation flow paired with conversational UX writing with reference to our defined user journeys.
As for the visual style, we opted for blues and teal green to keep the platform clean and professional with a nod to the app’s medical industry. To keep it delightful for both user groups, we also utilized 3D illustrations with gradients as the main visual style.
Our design and development teams worked together in an agile approach to validate the app feature’s capabilities with the frameworks being built. Detailed high fidelity screens and prototypes played a part in an efficient handoff process to the developers.
